Dr. Wm. Ashley Moorman:
Dr. Ashley Moorman was born in Beaufort, South Carolina while his father was stationed at Parris Island as a Dentist in the Navy. His father, Dr. Bill Moorman, moved the family back to Valdosta to start his private practice in 1971. Ashley grew up in Valdosta and in his father’s dental office. He graduated Valdosta High School in 1988. Athens was next where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Zoology in 1992. Ashley was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and routinely made the Dean’s list. Aspiring to be a dentist since he was a young boy, Ashley attended the Medical College of Georgia and obtained his dental degree (DMD) in 1996. Upon graduation, he moved back to Valdosta and practiced with his father for two years as he learned from his mentor. Dr. Ashley Moorman bought a practice in Quitman, Georgia in 1998 and maintained a solo practice in Valdosta as well. As the two practices grew, he took on a partner, Dr. Barclay Woodward, in 2000 and Advanced Dental Care was born.
Dr. Ashley Moorman is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has served as a member of GADPAC, a delegate to the House of Representatives, and a member of the Board of Trustees in the Georgia Dental Association. Dr. Ashley Moorman has served as President of the South Western District Dental Association and as President of the Quad County Dental Association. He has chaired the advisory committee of the Dental Assisting Program and is currently on the advisory committee of the Dental Hygiene Program at Valdosta Technical Institute. He has also served on the advisory committee for the Dental Hygiene Program at Darton College. Dr. Ashley Moorman is a part time Clinical Instructor at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. He is a volunteer dentist at the LAMP Indigent Dental Clinic in Valdosta, a local coordinator of Children’s Dental Health Month, and a member of the Valdosta/Lowndes schools Community Partner in Education Program.
Dr. Ashley Moorman has been awarded a Fellowship into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international dental honor organization, for his dedication to his profession and his leadership roles with organized dentistry.
Dr. Ashley Moorman is also very dedicated to continuing education programs. He has studied at numerous advanced dental training facilities, including the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, the Ross Nash Institute, the Hornbrook Group, the Drevenstedt Group, and the Schuster Center. Dr. Ashley Moorman consistently exceeds the amount of continuing education required by the Georgia Board of Dentistry by as much as two to three times a year.
Dr. Ashley Moorman has been married to the former Melanie Chasteen of Fitzgerald, Georgia since April of 1998. Melanie is employed by ADC as a Bookkeeper and handles all accounts payable. She graduated from the University of Georgia as a Finance major and as an Alpha Delta Pi in 1993. Melanie and Ashley have three wonderful boys Ashton born 2001, Bay born 2003, and Mills born 2007.
Dr. J. Barclay Woodward
Dr. Woodward was born in Beaufort, South Carolina while his father was stationed at Parris Island as a Marine Drill Sergeant. The family soon returned home to Valdosta after his father fulfilled his duty to his country and to the Marine Corps. Dr. Woodward graduated from Valdosta High School in 1989. After graduation, he began his studies at Valdosta State College, and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1993 with a degree in Biology. At the University of Georgia, Dr. Woodward was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society, and was also a presidential scholar who consistently made the Dean’s list. Dr. Woodward received his degree in Dentistry (DMD) from the Medical College of Georgia in 1998, and was honored by the school of dentistry with a SWDDA scholarship and a merit award for undergraduate studies of removable denture prosthodontics.
Dr. Woodward is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Georgia Dental Association, the Quad County Dental Association, GADPAC, and the Southwestern District Dental Association. Dr. Woodward is a part-time Clinical Instructor at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Drs. Woodward has studied at numerous advanced dental training institutions including: the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, the Seattle Institute for Advanced Learning, the Hornbrook Group, the Drevenstedt Group and the Ross Nash Institute. Dr. Woodward is a clinical product evaluator for Dentsply Caulk, executive committee member of the Greater Valdosta United Way, an advisory committee member for the Valdosta Technical Institute Schools of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting, and a Community Partner in Education for the Valdosta City School System. He participates in Children’s Dental Health Month and volunteers at the LAMP Indigent Dental Clinic at Val-Tech.
Dr. Woodward has been married to the former Courtney Bryan of Lilburn, Georgia since April, 2000. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997 with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance. Courtney is employed by Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a sales consultant. Barclay and Courtney have two beautiful daughters; Kate, born November 2005 and Meg, born November 2008.
Dr. Bill Moorman
Dr. Bill Moorman was born in Lakeland, Ga. and attended schools there. His father owned the Ford dealership and his mother operated Moorman Hardware and Furniture Co. His father was a state senator and in the House of Representatives. Dr. Bill grew up water skiing at Twin Lakes during the summer.
Dr. Bill graduated from VSU in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry. From VSU he attended the University of Louisville where he received his D.M.D. degree and graduated with honors. He met and married his wife, Mary K. James, while he was a senior in dental school. After graduating he joined the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Lt. And served two years at Paris Island dental detachment. Their first son, Ashley, was born there. Ashley is now a dentist and Dr. Bill works with Dr. Ashley Moorman and Dr. Barclay Woodward. Dr. Bill joined ADC in 2006.
Dr. Bill started his dental practice in Valdosta in 1971. In 1973 their son was born and is now a Doctor of Chiropractic and owns Care Chiropractic in Valdosta. Dr. Bill is a member of The Academy of General Dentistry, The American Dental Association, and The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Georgia Dental Association, The Southwestern District Dental Association. He served as President of the Local Dental Study Club.
Dr. Bill has always been interested in cosmetic dentistry and has far exceeded the state requirements for continuing dental education. He has attended the Pankey Institute for dental education, The Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, The Strupp Institute, The Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies.
Dr. Bill and his wife Mary K. have been Christians since 1976 when they both gave their lives to Jesus and attend First United Methodist Church. They have three grandchildren named Ashton, Bay, and Mills. Dr. Bill’s spare time is spent with grandchildren fishing at Keaton Beach and playing golf. Dr. Bill loves dentistry and has no plans to retire.
Trish DeThomas, RDH – Financial Arrangements/Treatment Coordinator
Our patients recognize Trish as the capable, user-friendly Treatment coordinator. Although Trish is a registered dental hygienist and practiced as one for over 31 years, she decided to change hats in 2003 and take on front desk responsibilities. As our patients are quick to say, it has been a great fit. Trish is truly a people person and her strong suit is patient relations.
Trish’s hobbies include fitness and nutrition, home decorating, and trying new recipes on friends. She is married to Dr. Art DeThomas, a retired VSU finance professor.
Mandy Brantley – Financial Manager
Although Mandy was not born in Valdosta, she considers herself a Valdosta native. She graduated from Lowndes High School and then attended Valdosta State University. She graduated from VSU in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. While in college Mandy worked as a Marketing Coordinator for an oral surgeon. Mandy and her husband, Britt, were married in March of 2005 and welcomed their first daughter, Addison, in August of 2006. In their free time Mandy and her family enjoy being outside, home improvements, traveling and shopping.
Erin Moore, RDH – Hygienist
Erin is a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. After graduating from Lowndes High School, Erin attended Valdosta State University and Valdosta Technical College. She enrolled in a dual program and graduated at the top of her 2001 class, receiving an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Erin currently resides in Adel with her husband, Adam, who is a Pharmacist in town, and their two boys: Charles and Brooks. Erin encourages you to come and experience Advanced Dental Care and all the dental services we have to offer.
Heather Moore, RDH – Hygienist
Heather is a native to Valdosta and is 2001 graduate of Valdosta High School. Prior to attending dental hygiene school at Valdosta State University and Valdosta Technical College, Heather was a Dental Assistant for over 3 years. After graduating at the top of her class in 2005 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree, she joined the ADC team. Heather has a very gentle touch and wants to help make your next dental visit the most pleasant experience possible.
Erica Smith, RDH – Hygienist
Erica is originally from Ellijay, GA and is a 2003 graduate of Gilmer High School. She moved to Valdosta in 2003 to attend Valdosta State University. Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist, Erica worked as a Dental Assistant for 3 years. Erica graduated top of her hygiene class in 2007 and soon started working with the ADC team. She currently resides in Valdosta. Erica is looking forward to educating her patients about all the benefits of hygiene and proper home care.
Cindy Stone, CDA – Certified Dental Assistant
Cindy joined the Advanced Dental Care team in December of 2000. She has been Dr. Barclay Woodward’s main dental assistant since 1998. Born and raised in Valdosta, Cindy currently resides in Mayday with her husband Craig and her son Braden. She attended Valdosta State College and Valdosta Technical Institute. Cindy completed her Dental Assisting Certification in 2001. She recently graduated from the Ross Nash Esthetic Epitome Dental Assistants Program in Charlotte, NC. Her interests include spending time with her family, shopping and traveling. Cindy enjoys educating patients on the latest techniques that dentistry has to offer.
Angela Coats – Dental Assistant
Angela Coats has been with Advanced Dental Care since November 2004. She is currently Dr. Ashley Moorman’s main assistant. She is the mother of two wonderful children; Austin and Kaylon. Angela has been in the dental field since 1997. She is an active member of the GDA corps. Her credentials include training with Ross Nash, completion of Advanced Hygiene Concepts, Drevanstedt Consulting Program and MasterPlan Alliance training. Her hobbies include lying in the sun, playing with her kids, and spending time with her fiancé Tim Pitts. She is proud to be a dental assistant for Dr. Ashley Moorman and invites everyone to experience our fun and caring atmosphere.
Phyllis Sparks – Dental AssistantPhyllis is a graduate of The Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, directed by Dr. Frank Spears. She has worked chairside with Dr. Bill Moorman for over 27 years. Phyllis loves to help make people beautiful with "smile makeovers". She is proud to be a member of the ADC Team.
Phyllis lives in Ray City, GA with her husband Danny Sparks. Danny works for the NWTF. They have 6 children-Justin, Jessica, Lauren, Whitney, Dani and Katie; and four grandchildren.
Misty Wrye – Dental AssistantMisty joined ADC in February 2006 as an eight year team member of Dr. Bill Moorman. Misty is currently a chairside dental assistant, but she also has experience as scheduling coordinator. She is very enthusiastic about helping provide dental needs for all of our patients. She has attended countless CE courses and is a graduate of the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education. Misty is the mother of two boys and has been happily married for 9 years to Jamie Wrye, who works for Georgia Power. Her hobbies include scrap booking, hunting and working in her yard.
Brittney Wheeler – Lab Technician
Brittany was born and raised in Quitman, Ga. She graduated from Brooks County High School and then later attended Lanier Technical College in the Dental Assisting Program. Her dental career with ADC started in 2002 when she was selected to be in the BCHS apprenticeship program. She is married to Chase Hayes and have a beautiful baby girl named Cali. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends. Brittany would love for you to visit the comfortable and promising environment we offer at Advanced Dental Care.
Jenni Holt – Dental AssistantJenni is a graduate of Valdosta State University and is a chairside assistant for Dr. Ashley Moorman. She was office manager at a prior practice and is well versed in patient relations as well as clinical care. She lives in Valdosta with her husband Allen D. Holt III and their two girls Caroline and Ella Grace. Her hobbies include spending time with friends and family. She enjoys the fun and friendly atmosphere of ADC and invites you to do the same.
Tanja Rogers – Hygienist
Tanja was born and raised in northern Norway. She initially came here at the age of 16 as an exchange student, to return years later to settle down with her husband and continue her education. Tanja is fluent in English, Norwegian and is familiar with German, Finnish and some French. Tanja started working in the dental field in 2001 in the front office, but decided to further her education with an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Valdosta State University and Valdosta Tech after realizing her love for dentistry. Tanja enjoys taking continuing education courses in her spare time and is also passionate about volunteer dental hygiene education for children. Tanja lives in Adel with her husband and daughter.
