CHRISTMAS 2014 - LOWNDES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND CHILD SERVICES CHRISTMAS (DFCS)
The ADC TEAM picked a case load of 14 children involved with DFCS (Department of Family and Child Services) and bought them all Christmas presents. The 14 children varied in age from 4 months to 12 years old. Presents were age and gender specific and included Walmart gift certificates for each child. The ADC TEAM donated over Two Thousand Dollars to these needy children and would love to bring attention to these children at Christmas. Many are in foster care, group homes, or situations that donations will be their entire Christmas. Information on how you can help these needy children is below.
The Mission of the Lowndes County Department of Family and Children's Services is to strengthen Georgia's families - supporting their self-sufficiency and helping them protect their vulnerable children and adults by being a resource to their family, not a substitute.
Lowndes County DFCS representatives (from left to right): Vivian Mann, Foster Care Supervisor, Nickie Tucker, Foster Care Case Manager, Tiffany Fountain, Adoptions Case Manager, and Joanna Spencer, Foster Care Case Manager.

VETERANS DAY 2014
Dr Bill was a Lieutenant in the U.S. NAVY for two years. He was stationed at Paris Island and worked as a dentist the entire time. There were 40 dental officers he gained extensive experience in Oral Surgery and Crown and Bridge work. He was commended for his dental work while there. Dr Bill was able to get into his uniform from 44 years ago today for a Veterans Day program at Valwood School.
DENTISTRY FROM THE HEART 2014
Dentistry from the Heart sponsored a free dentistry day at a local dental office in Valdosta and some of our dedicated team members attended. Each patient was allowed two out of three services that are provided. They were able to choose to have a dental cleaning, a tooth filled, or a tooth extracted. Saturday November 8th, 2014 was set aside to treat the patients that showed up. The doors opened at 8am and closed at 5pm. Many people who attended arrived the day prior to wait in line and some slept in their cars over night.
Leslie Scott RDH, Donna Davis, and T'Shauna dedicated the Saturday morning to provide care to those in need. This was clearly a need in our community and many people took advantage of the day. A total of 170 patients received the services that were provided. Over $60,000 worth of free dentistry was donated from about 110 volunteers. Dentistry from the Heart provided free breakfast and lunch to all patients and all volunteers. This day was a super successful event that will be done in our community on a yearly basis!!
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2014
We wanted to do something special for Breast Cancer Awareness month. We have a particular family that has been close to ADC for years that has been affected by the disease. Angela Harrell used to be our office manager back in the day. Dirk Harrell, Angela's husband, is a dental product rep that works with ADC. They have been a part of our ADC Family for years. Angela was diagnosed with breast cancer over a year ago and is now cancer free!! Dirk's sister, Michelle Garner, is now battling the same disease. We love this family and were honored to have them be in a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign at ADC. We had T Shirts made and included Dirk, Angela, and Michelle in the photos. I cant tell you how good it felt as a team to surround them with love and support while bringing attention to this cause. Today Michelle started her fifth round of chemo wearing her new shirt. Please join us in praying for and supporting all patients, families, and survivors of this terrible disease. You can go to http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/breast-cancer-awareness-month to find out more on how to get involved. Again we want to thank the Harrell and Garner family for being strong and showing us what love looks like in the face of adversity. You can also follow and support Michelle on FB @ Prayers for Michelle Garner
