Sedation Dentistry
We offer sedation dentistry for patients who are afraid of the dentist, who have sensitive teeth, or who have complex dental problems. Sedation dentistry allows us to complete several procedures in a limited amount of time, and ease the apprehension of patients who may otherwise be reluctant to visit a dentist.
Currently, every room at our practice is equipped with nitrous oxide. With nitrous oxide, patients can relax during their treatment, and leave our office feeling refreshed.
Patient Amenities
Our new office features a ceiling mounted television in every room. Every patient will have their own monitor to view cable TV, DVD movies, patient-education videos, digital x-rays, and even intra-oral camera tours of their own mouth.
Professional Digital Photography Studio
Our practice features its own digital photography studio where we can capture stunning before and after photographs of our patients. Our studio is equipped with everything a commercial studio would need to capture the beauty of your new smile.
Digital X-Rays
We have introduced new digital x-rays as part of our effort to provide the safest treatment possible to our patients. Digital x-rays transmit 95% less radiation than traditional dental x-rays, and feature smaller, more comfortable sensors. Currently, our office features Digital Panorex full-face imaging. This technology allows for more accurate treatment and communication with dental specialists. The Digital Panorex can pick up unseen medical conditions and help our team make a comprehensive diagnosis.
Radiation is measured in millirems. The annual maximum occupational exposure for U.S. workers has been set at 5,000 millirems. The amount of exposures to radiation during typical medical and dental x-ray examinations are listed below:
So you would have to take 20,000 bitewing x-rays to equal the radiation in one mammogram! We would have to take almost 100,000 bitewing x-rays to reach your maximum safe yearly dose! When you weigh these facts against the serious, progressive disease processes such as cavities, gum disease, abscesses, and cancer that can go undetected without x-rays, it seems like a pretty fair, and extremely safe, trade off. There is no question that having your dental x-rays taken regularly is well worth it! We encourage you to talk to us if you have lingering questions about dental x-rays or your dental treatment.
Intraoral Camera
With our brand new Accucam® Concept IV intraoral camera, patients can take a tour of their mouth on a monitor without having to juggle any mirrors. The intraoral camera allows us to diagnose potential problems in their earliest stages, and help our patients understand their diagnosis and visualize the problem areas of their mouth.
Electric Handpieces
Instead of the traditional air-driven “whistling” dental drills, our office uses new KaVo Electrotorque handpieces. These electric handpieces provide smooth, quiet operation with consistent rotation and power. And since the new KaVo Electrotorque is so precise, the vibrations and noises associated with traditional drills are all but eliminated.
Waterlase® MD Laser from Biolase
The Waterlase® MD is a revolutionary multi-use laser designed for painless, drill-less dentistry. The Waterlase® MD can be used to remove cavities without drilling, and is also appropriate for use on the soft tissues of the mouth and laser root canals. Featuring the latest components, materials, and design, the Waterlase® MD is one of the most exciting innovations in laser dentistry. When patients require soft tissue treatment, we will often use a diode laser. With a diode laser, treatment is more efficient, there is less discomfort, healing time is reduced, and overall there are better results and a decreased risk of infection. If you would like to explore laser dentistry, please contact us today.
KaVo DIAGNOdent® Laser
Our practice uses the KaVo DIAGNOdent® laser to detect tooth decay in its earliest stages. The DIAGNOdent® laser is currently the most accurate detection tool available to dentists, and can uncover decay that would go unnoticed by traditional methods of diagnosis. With the DIAGNOdent® laser, our team can assist patients in preventing future problems and maintaining optimum oral health.
Breath Rx®
We have introduced the Breath Rx® system into our practice to help treat the symptoms of halitosis (bad breath). The Breath Rx® system involves three steps: first, brushing with the purifying toothpaste, then scraping the tongue with a specially formulated tongue scraper, followed by rinsing with an anti-bacterial mouth rinse. Our office has Breath Rx® kits available for purchase.
E.MAX Dental Crowns
With a E.MAX dental crowns and veneers, our patients will have the most natural-looking and long-lasting restoration available on the market. These crowns are formulated with an advanced material designed to mimic the natural color of your tooth. They combine beauty with durability, and are now the preferred material for dental restorations.
Sonicare®
The Sonicare® toothbrushes available at our office combine high-speed brushing with dynamic cleaning action. The patented sonic technology allows you to clean hard to reach areas, resulting in whiter teeth and healthier gums. With its high-speed bristle motion, the Sonicare® toothbrush is able to reach below the gum line and in between teeth. Though the Sonicare® toothbrush is powerful, it provides gentle cleaning, and is safe on dental implants and other restorations.
The latest product offered by Sonicare® is the new IntelliClean system. This new product allows a sonicare toothbrush to dispense liquid toothpaste while brushing. The results are whiter, brighter teeth, and healthier gums.
Sterilization
Our practice has invested in numerous brand new sterilization devices in order to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our patients. We currently possess two Midmark M11 UltraClave® Automatic Sterilizers that we use to sterilize instruments, a KaVo automatic handpiece cleaner, a Statim 5000 ultra quick handpiece sterilizer, and a SciCan Hydrim Instrument washer. With these sterilization instruments, we can eliminate the chance of cross contamination.
Optical Magnification
Our dentists and hygienists use optical magnification to improve our visual sharpness and magnify images of our patient’s teeth and gums. With optical magnification, our vision is improved by as much as two and a half to four times. We cannot imagine performing dental procedures without our magnification, because the better we see, the better we can care for our patients.
Emergency Devices
Our office is equipped with an Automatic Emergency Defibrillator (AED) device in case of a cardiac emergency, and our entire staff is CPR/AED certified. Having this technology available gives us the confidence that we can save lives if necessary. If you would like to research this device, visit www.americanheart.org.
